My Brother in Christ and I found the following post from The Berean Organization which is really an apostate organization known as “Church of the Great God” *** (See FootNote Below) dated September 21, 2018 which reads as follows:
(18) Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
But happy is he who keeps the law.
New King James Version
Modern versions replace “vision” with “revelation,” but the choice is negligible because God’s revelation is the true and most important vision (foresight, discernment, insight) for our lives. The Living Bible paraphrases this verse as, “Where there is ignorance of God
, the people run wild, but what a wonderful thing it is for a nation to know and keep His laws!” An old English version based on the Latin Vulgate provides a fascinating rendering in light of what has happened recently in the church: “When prophecy shall fail, the people shall be scattered.” Adam Clarke comments, “Where divine revelation, and the faithful preaching of the sacred testimonies, are neither reverenced nor attended, the ruin of that land [or church] is at no great distance.”
All these renderings show a measure of cause and effect. The vision a person has is the cause, and the effect is the way he then conducts his life. Where there is a true vision, or revelation of God, it motivates those who have reverence for it to conduct their lives in a way that produces good fruit – happiness. If the vision that guides is not from God, the people are motivated to “run wild” or “cast off restraint.” That is, they will not discipline themselves to take proper responsibility, and the result is they perish – quite a contrast to the satisfying result of keeping God’s laws!
There can be no doubt about what vision produces. It enhances our perception of what will occur or be produced if a certain course is followed. Thus, it increases our discernment and sharpens our judgment about which way we should go. If the vision, the foreseen result, seems good to a person, he is motivated to proceed in that direction. When vision and the fear of God combine, they produce a strong stimulus to obey Him. Vision gives a mental picture of results, and the deep and abiding respect for God produces a compelling inclination to please Him.

Here is the King James Version
Proverbs 29:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Why is this a big deal? And Why John W. Ritenbaugh is a liar.
First: Any new Bible version following the 1611 King James Version is a corrupted text. See FootNotes below (WHY KJV Only)
Second: When Jesus said, “Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled” in Matthew 5:18, He was stating emphatically that God’s Word is true and trustworthy. God has spoken, His words have been written down accurately, and what God has said will surely come to pass. Fulfillment is inevitable. Even the smallest letter of the Law will be fulfilled. Even the smallest pen stroke of the Prophets will be accomplished. The NLT translates the verse this way: “Until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.”
Even a period is where it belongs!!!!! And for a very good reason. Every word has a meaning. I highlighted in red. “GOD HAS SPOKEN”!! End of story. Every word. So this translation and that translation is a mute point. That goes for the New King James Version.
Modern versions replace “vision” with “revelation,” but the choice is negligible because God’s revelation is the true and most important vision (foresight, discernment, insight) for our lives.
They change this well known verse, a mainstay of our faith, to the corrupted filth of new translations The NKJV is very similar to NIV Vatican whore. But notice your link says KJV. They are subverting readers to believe new translations ste better.
Why this is a big deal:
The corrupted Latin Vulgate from the Vatican taken from Textus Receptus Alexandria which comes the NIV, ESV, NASB, NKJV ETC… take the word Vision and Translate it to Revelation. If you look carefully, most if not all of the modern bible scholars today refer to the Latin Vulgate as their source.
They go so far to say that when Proverbs 29:18 uses visions it is the same as Romans using it and 1 Corinthians using it to mean prophets getting divine revelation from God. This is a lie. Here’s why:
If you don’t have an actual visualization apprehended only in the Spirit from God through the Holy Spirit by our Lord Jesus Christ you are spiritually BLIND. You need vision to see. To have revelation is not vision. Revelation is a mental exercise of understanding what the Spirit knows through communion, conscience and intuition – all faculties of the spirit.
First Please read the opening chapters of Watchman Nee The Spiritual Man. The purpose of this is to understand the supreme importance of the difference between the functions of the Spirit and the Soul of man.
Watchman Nee Spiritual Man
The difference between seeing a picture vs revealing a picture. One of the strongest most powerful faculties of the human soul is the ability to imagine which literally means to see an image in our mind otherwise known as our imagination. This is the reason God warns of vain imaginations and guarding against. Imagination can be easily influenced by evil and the fleshly desires of man. Revelation is a function of the mind. A mental exercise of understanding what has been revealed. If someone has lost their ability to see the unseen which is a faculty of the Spirit called intuition and imagination. PLEASE SEE WATCHMAN NEE’s SPIRITUAL MAN FACULTY OF THE SPIRIT Intuition – Communion – Conscience
If man merely understands (REVELATION) in his mentality and there is no Holy Spirit to regenerate him within his spirit TO KNOW (visualization or spiritual vision), his understanding cannot help him…
IN OTHER WORDS:
Revelation is understanding which is a work of the mind or the function of the soul. Vision on the other hand is strictly seeing something which is the essence of belief and this can only be accomplished by a regenerated spirit that is born again. Seeing is knowing beyond doubt… Doubting Thomas had to see the holes in our Risen Savior’s hands and sides to believe. Once he had this vision, he had perfect revelation. Vision always precedes Revelation. God reveals by Vision. A false type of vision could be called Revelation. I will tell you what was revealed to me by God the Prophet. But a Prophet can only reveal what his vision was. To impart that vision can only be done through the Holy Spirit to be fully understood.
Spiritually apprehend comes from the same root as knowing intuitively which originally comes from the deepest level of understanding far exceeding a mental exercise of understanding a concept intellectually.
This is why a person can pretend to be a saved Christian but they have to learn and acquire knowledge mentally, but the truth Jesus Christ is not known.
For a deeper understanding of the faculty of the Spirit of the Regenerated (born again Christian vs an unsaved pretender please read these passages from SPIRITUAL MAN from Watchman Nee:
Etymology of to see comes from the exact root meaning of the word to know something intuitively
THE SPIRIT KNOWS – THE MIND UNDERSTANDS
Vision is the Hebrew word: “hazon” in all uses throughout the Old Testament Vision literally means to SEE something (example when I show you a photograph you see the image. You do not reveal it, you see it. It is revealed to you but seeing something not to have something revealed. The same in the New Testament the word Vision “Horasis” means literally to see with the eyes, the act of seeing, the sense of sight, the appearance of something visible from vision. See this link that shows the usages of Vision in the Old and New Testament. LINK
Full scripture use of vision LINK
If you look at the link, you will see for example in the Book of Daniel that Daniel saw things as in watching a movie play out in front of him. Same in the New Testament. God had divinely revealed to Zacharias, John the Baptist’s Father, in Luke 1:22 and John in Revelation 9:17… These men literally SAW something. God revealed it but not by hearing, they saw. Revelation by sight is absolute. Seeing is believing.
Here’s a link that goes in depth of how a closed vision vs open vision with Daniel operated and the language used. Again we clearly understand that Daniel was watching events visually. LINK
Hosea 4:6 KJV – My people are destroyed for lack of – Bible …
Hosea 4:6 King James Version (KJV). 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Why are correct words so Important?
Let’s take a look at Jesus own Words.
Matthew 5:17-19 KJV- 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall pass away in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
